The Power of Slow Mornings

by admin

This week I challenged myself to slow down my mornings. Instead of hitting snooze three times, rushing to get ready, and forgetting breakfast along the way, I gave myself permission to start the day differently. The result? It honestly changed everything.

I found myself more productive, actually achieving the goals I set rather than procrastinating, and being intentional about everything I did. By giving myself time to ease into the day, I felt calmer, more centered, and less reactive to whatever challenges came up.

A slow morning isn’t about how much you can accomplish before 9 AM. It’s about tuning into yourself and setting the tone for the day. Instead of chugging coffee or racing through breakfast, it’s about enjoying those 20 minutes. Sitting with your meal. Thinking about what’s ahead. Giving yourself a real head start.

When you start rushed and stressed, that energy carries through meetings, decisions, and interactions. But when you begin with calm and presence, you approach your day from a place of clarity rather than chaos. You make better decisions, communicate more thoughtfully, and handle stress with greater ease.

The Mental Shift

Perhaps most importantly, slow mornings change your relationship with time itself. Instead of feeling like time controls you, you begin to feel more in control of your time. This mental shift reduces anxiety and creates space for creativity and reflection—things that get squeezed out when we’re constantly rushing.

Simple Ways to Start

  • Wake up 15-30 minutes earlier than necessary
  • Avoid screens for the first hour- scrolling increases stress and reduces focus
  • Create a simple morning ritual: coffee, journaling, stretching, sitting in silence, or even taking your sweet time to get ready
  • Resist the urge to immediately dive into tasks or emails

Slow mornings are more accessible than we think. No elaborate routine—just a simple choice to ease into the day before the demands of the day take over.. Try it for a week or two and notice the calm it brings.
